IIOT stands for Industrial Internet Of Things
This is an industrialized version of the Internet Of Things.
Reliability of equipment and security are paramount for industrial applications.
Like the contrast between recreational and commercial vessels. Recreational vessels don't need redundant communication links for small vessels under 30', whereas large yachts and commercial or government vessels need redundant internet connections which are encrypted.
The NMEA2000 or OneNet systems might need password and user login to be modified.
Hardware quality for IIOT means metal sealed connectors, metal RF shielding, water immersion protection and explosion proof enclosures. Lightning protection on circuits with ESD.
In general the boards we produce/engineer are usually IIOT quality. All components are industrial for -40 to 240F rated. We use metal CAN bus connectors and so forth.
Sensors generally are design for ceiling mount and lack immersion protection.
Our BlueOceanIIOT ® registered trademark is on our industrial products.
